SUCCESS! 2010 - Pathways to Success
Giving thanks for their contribution in helping to make 2010 Path Way to Success for Bridging the Employment Gap Seminar successful. The Huntsville Area Committee On The Employment Of People With Disabilities (HACEPD) thanks all the participants, attendees and vendors for making this seminar a HUGH success. HACEPD objective is to educate employers, assist job seekers and provide supportive resources. Maintaining this direction, on Thursday, April 22, 2010, HACEPD held a Seminar in the Jacobs Training Facility located at 1500 Perimeter Pkwy, Huntsville, AL. This seminar was a FREE half-day training session that was conducted as a Forum. HACEPD was very honored and pleased to host a diverse range of Human Resources Managers, various local Managers and Business attendees for this Forum.
Being dedicated and supportive of the employment of people with disabilities, the HACEPD Forum successfully addressed a wide range of diverse employment barriers and practices that was posed through pre-submitted questions and from the attending audience. The topics discussion explored various employment practices supportive of assisting employers in the employment of candidates with disabilities related to the areas of,
- Effective Interviewing for People with Disabilities
- Job Accommodations / Modifications for People with Disabilities
- Job Training for individuals with disabilities for People with Disabilities
- Individualize Plan (Performance Evaluation) for People with Disabilities
During the registration process, all attendees received free handout packages that included information related to the employment practices and resource agencies that would be instrumental with assisting them in the employment process of candidates with disabilities. Each package included information such as the;
Booklet produced in collaboration with BOEING that addressed People With and Without Disabilities Interacting and Communicating;
Earnworks (Interviewing Applicants with Disabilities, Attitudinal Barriers About People With Disabilities, and Creating A Welcoming WorkPlace For People With Disabilities);
JAN (Employers' Practical Guide to Reasonable Accommodation Under the Americans with Disabilities Act) and;
Resource connections for Local and Statewide Agencies

The Panel was very instrumental in addressing all pre-submitted questions related to these topics. Aside from addressing pre-submitted questions, Attorney Hackney piloted the Question & Answer Session to address additional employment concerns of the attendees. This session was informative and very interactive so that it provided wealth of additional information to the attendees.
